Is the deleted Yorkshire Water video a crisis or a blunder?

Yesterday, Wednesday 26 July 2023, Yorkshire Water deleted a promotional video from their social media accounts. Why? The teaser video — released ahead of a three-part campaign that will offer its customers water saving advice — features stock footage that, although clearly intended to depict Yorkshire, was filmed in, wait for it… Herefordshire, and… wait for it again… Russia. 

Within hours of releasing the promotional video, amid mild backlash and mockery from onlookers, Yorkshire Water deleted the video.

From a PR point of view, the question is… will this cause irreparable damage to Yorkshire Water?
