How many famous song titles featuring the word 'WOMAN' can you name in 30-seconds? Starting now. Go...
How did you do? I'm ashamed.
I used to be a commercial radio DJ - tasked with keeping abreast of all things music - yet still, I managed just FOUR measly songs in thirty-seconds (and one of those was a ridiculous cheat)
'Woman' - Diane Birch
'Woman in Chains' - Tears For Fears
'Man! I Feel Like a Woman' - Shania Twain
'Lady in Red' - Chris De Burgh
(I'm not proud of myself for No.4, by the way)
My point? Well, this week has been the Week Of The Woman, hasn't it? Given our almost back-to-back celebration of International Women's Day on Thursday, and Mother's Day today. And so, to add my woman-shaped gift to proceedings, please meet one of my favourite women of all - singer/songwriter & film composer, Phoebe Katis.
Since 2015, I have undertaken two artist photoshoots for Phoebe - highlights from the most recent displayed below. The brief was to deliver official photography to support Phoebe's UK gig/tour/festival dates, music release, press activity across print and digital and lead imagery for her social media channels.
In the spirit of The Week Of The Woman, then, here is one of the most beautiful vocal performances Phoebe has ever delivered, in my humble opinion.
Her interpretation of one of the world's most timeless songs is quite remarkable, and serves as a convenient memento for this special week.
Happy Week Of The Woman, everyone!
PS. How did this hit song not make it into my 30-seconds list?
